Nordic GT3 - Ahvenisto final
Markus took home a pole position, lap record, two fastest race laps, a win and a 2nd place from the final round of the Nordic GT3 championship at Ahvenisto, Finland, where he raced a No Brakes Motorsport Porsche GT3 Cup S with Petri Mannila. Jukka Ylitalo and Valle Mäkelä added to the team’s success by securing a 1-2 in both races Jukka taking the 3rd place in the championship standings.
“The season ended pretty much as it started as I had a pole for the first race which we also won, but everything between the first and the last event was a struggle. I missed two weekends due to other commitments, but we also missed two more for technical reasons. At Pärnu in June, our engine gave up in practice and we couldn’t race. Then the team got wrong parts for Botniaring and the car wasn’t ready in time to do the race. So, in the end we obviously didn’t have any chance in the championship, but it was good to see that we were fastest every time we were out there.
The team and all the drivers made great progress throughout the season and it was good to be a part of it. I had good fun driving for No Brakes and we had a few very good races with Pete. He was determined to go quicker every time he sat in the car and in the end he did really well. I hope he will be back next year to try to win the title.”
